Our school is thrilled to announce that we will be continuing our optional writing program, the Writing Initiative. The Writing Initiative is designed to assist you with your child’s writing development.
It is our goal to inform you about the many writing vendors who provide effective products and services. The Writing Initiative provides support for you to teach and develop your child's writing skills.
Rather than focusing narrowly on high stakes writing exam preparation, the Writing Initiative has a broad focus. Components of the Writing Initiative include a thorough list of writing options, online vendor product demonstrations on several of the most popular writing programs, and several free online “How to Write” webinars.
HOW IT WORKS
In order to accomplish these goals, our school encourages your participation in the Writing Initiative by doing the following:
- Second, attend as many of the live online Product Demonstrations offered by select vendors during August and September which you’d like to learn more about. Pre-registration is required. All demonstration dates and times can also be found on our School Calendar. These live demonstrations are your opportunity to learn about and ask questions regarding the features of each program: level of parent-teacher writing support, grading, ease of use, student-parent login access, reports, weekly time commitment for student and parent-teacher, etc.
Third, once you have attended as many product demonstrations as you would like, select one of the featured Writing Initiative Program Options. Using your child’s instructional funds, submit a purchase order request to your ES for your chosen program.
Finally, register for and attend as many of the online Writing Initiative “How to Write” Training Series being offered by select vendors during October, November, and December to learn how to teach writing using a particular program. You are encouraged to attend as many webinars that pique interest. Each session will be a combination of instruction and Q&A. Pre-registration is required. All Training dates and times can be found on the School Calendar.
