Employees Transporting a Student Information

 

Policy:

ESs or school employees transporting students (other than their own children) is prohibited.  However, for the sole purpose of transporting students to testing sites only, and under the following criteria, transporting students to testing is allowed.

 

Procedures:

1. When an ES or school employee is driving their own private vehicle to transport students they must:

  • Complete the Volunteer/Employee Vehicle Usage-Transporting Students form found on the school website at: http://www.ieminc.org/genericforms/vehicleusage.pdf .
  • Provide a copy of your own personal vehicle insurance policy statement declarations page showing you meet the district’s required levels of $100,000 Bodily Injury Liability per person / $300,000 per occurrence / $100,000 in Property Damage per occurrence.

 

2. (Optional) In addition to the above, when driving a rented vehicle they must:

  • When picking up your rented vehicle, take the ‘full coverage’ insurance offered by the rental car agency.

(Note: Driver must have a Class “B” California Driver’s License to transport students in any vehicle larger than a 7 passenger Mini-Van.)

 

3. Fax or mail all documents to the attention of the IEM General Services Manager, 1166 Broadway, suite Q, Placerville, CA 95667 as soon as possible when complete. 

 

4. You will receive an e-mail confirmation from the General Services Manager when you have been authorized to transport students.

 

5. To minimize the possible risks associated with an ES transporting students alone, make every attempt to have another ES, school parent or responsible adult in the vehicle if at all possible.
